Gum Bichromate

By Erin Mahoney
This photo is also pretty, right? Want to know how it's made? Thought so. The process used to make this photo is called Gum Bichromate. Gelatin is mixed with pigment and sensitized with chromium salts in order to make this print. The print is multilayered and the lighter parts have the least gum while the darker has the most.

Cyanotype Process

By Alessandra Hull
How was this beautiful photo made, you ask? Well, this photo was made via the cyanotype process. This process was the first picture producing method to not use silver to process the picture. The process turned the picture blue. It was used mostly for trial pictures as it was a fast and cheap way to develop a picture.

Collodian Process

 By Nicky Thompson
This here power photographic picture was made using the collodian method. Now what exactly is the collodian method? That's what I'm here to tell you:

The collodian process is done by coating the plate in a collodian mixture, putting it in silver nitrate, and then exposing the plate. This process was relatively inexpensive to others in the height of its popularity (1850s). The process leads to a brushed on look to the photograph.
